Entropy physics guide to growth
What a law of physics taught me about why everything drifts toward chaos, and how builders push back.
Entropy is the tendency of every system to drift from order to disorder. Left alone, a garden grows weeds, a codebase grows debt, and a skill you stop practicing quietly decays. Physics says this is not bad luck. It is the default direction of the universe.
The moment that clicked for me, growth stopped looking like a ladder and started looking like a fight against drift. You are not climbing toward something. You are constantly injecting energy into a system that wants to fall apart the second you stop.
Order is rented, never owned
Every founder I work with feels this without naming it. The product that was clean at launch gets messy. The routine that worked in January is gone by March. None of that is failure. It is entropy doing its job, and the answer is not guilt but systems that make re-ordering cheap.
Small consistent inputs beat heroic bursts, because bursts fade and entropy never does. A daily review beats a yearly overhaul. A weekly cleanup beats a rewrite. The math of disorder favors whoever shows up most often, not whoever pushes hardest once.
So my growth strategy is boring on purpose: decide what must stay ordered, automate or ritualize the energy that keeps it ordered, and let everything else drift guilt-free. You cannot fight entropy everywhere. You can absolutely beat it where it matters.
